The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development have developed baby bedding safety guidelines for putting infants under 12 months old down to sleep. These recommendations include:

  • Remove baby blankets, pillows, quilts, comforters, and other soft products from the crib.
  • If using a baby blanket, put baby with feet at the foot of the crib. Tuck a thin baby blanket around the crib mattress, reaching only as far as the baby's chest.
  • Make sure your baby's head remains uncovered during sleep.
For more information, please talk to your pediatrician and view the CPSC Safety Information

Product Safety Instructions

Bumpers: Using bumpers is a personal choice.  If you decide to use them, read up on safety procedures and use with care.  When tying the bumper ribbon, either tie it snuggly in a knot or double knot the bow so Baby doesn’t undo the bow.  Cut extra ribbon from bow once bow is tied. (If the ribbon frays, use a small amount of Fray Check on the ends: use only when baby is not near and use bumpers again only once Fray Check is completely dry)  Tie bumper firmly and flat against the side of the crib.  Take bumpers out once baby can pull up on the crib.  Monitor baby closely when using bumpers in a crib.
You can also visit www.babycribcentral.com for safety tips and guidelines.
Read the sheet that will accompany your order for additional safety and use information.

Quilts:  If the yarn ties on the quilt become loose, simply retie or remove them.  Don't use in crib when baby is sleeping.

Crib Skirt: Position firmly under mattress, hanging down.

Baskets:  Linings are removable and basket may have rough edges.  Do not let baby play with baskets unattended.

Storage:  Do not use on inside of crib.   Storage is meant for use on outside of crib or on changing table only.  Fasten securely.  One style uses buttons as fasteners.  Make sure baby cannot reach buttons or remove them.  Once baby can reach in the storage, remove.  Do not place harmful or toxic items in storage.

Booties:  Buttons and decorations are sewn on firmly, but may pose choking hazard if loose or removed. Wear only when monitored by adult supervision.

Afghan:  If you find loose ends, simply tuck in or tie.  Do not use in crib.

Finger Blankets:  Do not let baby play with toy if ribbon tag is loose or torn.
