"When we found out we were
expecting, I knew that I wanted a cute, decorated, matching nursery but
had no idea where to begin. I started to look in stores for a style that
might be fun in our baby's room. I am not a big "character" person and
found a lot of that in the options in the stores. I did find a few
gingham patters that I liked. However, these were at the specialty
shops and were very pricy just for the crib set - much less to add a few
random matching accessories. When I found out about the
opportunity to work with Lisa and have her sew our nursery, I was not
sure what to expect and was overwhelmed with how and where to begin.
Lisa was very confident and excited to help at each step of the way and
just encouraged me to get started! She worked with me to find the style
that fit my vision for the nursery.
Next, I was not sure what colors to use and wanted something
neutral since we did not know if it was a boy or girl. Lisa patiently
sought out the fabric that also fit my vision. I liked the gingham look,
so we found a yellow gingham and blue star material that we could accent
nicely with flowers/butterflies if a girl and sailboats/lighthouses if a
boy. My husband even got into the process and found a complementally
material; picking the snoopy pattern (he likes the characters).
I started with the basics that I wanted to have in the room: 2 crib
sheets, bumper, 2 quilts, 3 baskets, bulletin board, crib caddy, and
curtains. Then as Lisa worked, she found we had material to also make a
mobile, lamp shade, picture frame series, dog pillow/bone and bed
pillow. My husband in his business (www.woodspirations.com)
made the wooden letters for her name and the growth chart.
I cannot believe how great everything matches! I love to sit in the
room and just enjoy how the design is very subtle but complimentary. I
would not have been able to create this look on my own by just buying
things from the store. Thank you Lisa, for your hard work, creativity
and wonderful business to create a perfect nursery for us! :)"
